As part of our "Prot“ct Your Future with Disaster Awareness (You FuTuRe)" pro”ect, supported by EACEA (European Commission) within the scope of the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) programme and coordinated by SORGED, today we turned disaster awareness into a game: in Climate Detective, each volunteer researched a real climate or disaster event from a country of their choice and presented it through clues — while the rest guessed. Research became storytelling, and borders disappeared.

Then came a real expert session with Engin Balcı from AFAD: Fundamentals of Disaster Management and Risk Assessment. Direct knowledge from the field, genuine questions.

We closed the day with group research. The Pre-Disaster Team explored mitigation and preparedness phases, while the Post-Disaster Team dived into response and recovery with examples from Europe and beyond.

Knowledge doesn’t just stay in the classroom — it gets lived.
