Kick off Meeting of the "You FuTuRe" Project Held in Sorgun

The kick off meeting of the "Protect Your Future with Disaster Awareness (You FuTuRe)" project, supported by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) under the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) – Volunteering Teams in High Priority Areas, was held in Sorgun on April 9-10, 2025, with the participation of project coordinators from Türkiye, Morocco, Hungary, Ukraine, and Portugal.

During the opening meeting held in Sorgun, project partners came together to evaluate the general framework of the project.

The objectives of the project, target groups, responsibilities of the volunteers, as well as local and international activities, were discussed in detail. The roles and contributions of each partner were reviewed, and a 24-month implementation plan was established based on principles of mutual cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, the project timeline, evaluation methods, and sustainability strategies to be followed throughout the project were determined.

As part of the program, the participants visited Mr. Abdülkadir Karakoç, Director of AFAD Yozgat Provincial Office, who provided detailed information about disaster preparedness and response activities conducted by AFAD. Participants' questions were answered, and AFAD first aid kits were gifted to all volunteers.

In addition, Mr. Hakkı Yurtlu, Director of Yozgat Civil Society Relations, was also visited and informed about the project. Mr. Yurtlu conveyed his best wishes to all institutions involved in the project.

For the participants from Morocco, Hungary, Ukraine, and Portugal, a cultural tour was organized in Yozgat. During the tour, participants visited the Clock Tower, Turkey's first national park – Yozgat Pine Grove National Park, the historic Çapanoğlu Mosque, and the Hayri İnal Mansion. The day concluded with a tasting of traditional Yozgat cuisine, showcasing the region's rich cultural heritage.

Our project aims to raise youth awareness about disasters while also promoting international solidarity and the spirit of volunteering.
