AFAD Traınıng Has Begun!
As part of our “You FuTuRe – Protect Your Future with Disaster Awareness” project, carried out within the framework of the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) and supported by the European Commission, our new group of volunteers has started practical disaster-related training at the Yozgat Provincial Directorate of AFAD.
As part of the programme, we visited Mr. Ömer BOZKURT, Director of Yozgat Provincial AFAD, in his office together with our volunteers. Mr. BOZKURT provided our volunteers with valuable information about AFAD’s duties and responsibilities, disaster preparedness activities, and ongoing work. During the friendly conversation with our volunteers from different countries, there were also opportunities for intercultural exchange and sharing.
Following the visit, the training programme began. Our volunteers had the opportunity to gain practical knowledge and experience through:
Disaster Awareness Training, where they learned the correct actions to take before, during, and after disasters,
Tent Setup Training, where they learned how temporary shelter areas are established after disasters,
Fire Safety Training, where they learned correct and safe intervention methods in the event of a fire,
Listening Under Rubble Training, where they learned about the methods and equipment used in search and rescue operations through practical activities.
Our You FuTuRe project aims to raise awareness among young people from different countries about disasters and to encourage them to share the knowledge and experience they gain with their own communities. The project continues with practical training sessions with the valuable contributions of AFAD experts.
We would like to sincerely thank Mr. Ömer BOZKURT, Director of Yozgat Provincial AFAD, and the entire Yozgat AFAD team for their support, warm hospitality, and for sharing their valuable knowledge and experience with our volunteers.
