A Day Full of Volunteers
As part of the “Protect Your Future with Disaster Awareness (You FuTuRe)” project—supported by the European Commission and implemented under the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) program—our international volunteers from Turkey, Azerbaijan, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, and Greece participated in first aid training.
An icebreaker session was held with students from the Girls’ Imam Hatip High School club. During a tea gathering in a warm and friendly atmosphere, the students had the opportunity to get to know one another better, while also practicing their English speaking skills through Speaking Club activities.
Later in the program, a general evaluation of the disaster preparedness training provided by AFAD was conducted, and the knowledge and skills gained during the training were discussed. During the meeting, where students’ views and suggestions were also shared, club activities for the coming week were planned, and the events to be held were finalized.
At the end of the day, a doctor from the District Health Directorate who participated in the program provided first aid training to the team. The training covered basic first aid procedures, proper intervention methods in emergencies, and vital information, all presented through hands-on exercises. Participants had the opportunity to gain important knowledge to enable them to act effectively in potential emergency situations.
